Frankenstein

We were supposed to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley for British Literature. The book isn't my favourite but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. If it wasn't for school, I probably wouldn't read the book but I'm glad I did.

The story is about doctor Frankenstein, the Monster he created and the consequences of it. I must say I didn't like Frankenstein from the beginning but I liked the Monster. I felt sorry for him and he was the only reason I read the whole book even though I would prefer a happy ending for him.

Short stories

The Happy Prince

For Critical Reading we were supposed to read the short story The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde. I've never heard of the story before but I liked it. It is easy to read and has a deeper meaning. Although I find the relationship between the Swallow and the Prince sometimes a bit toxic, overall it's a nice story. The ending is quite sad so if I would be reading it to young children, I would probably change the ending.

I haven't read many books this semester, just some parts for my classes.

Robinson Crusoe

We had to read the pages 5-36, 46-52, 74-81, 170-186 from the book Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe for British history, culture and literature class.

It was quite confusing, probably because I didn't read the whole book but just the parts necessary. 

Fanfiction

I love reading books and watching TV shows and films and sometimes I like the characters or the story so much that I want to read something more about them. For this reason, I like reading fanfictions. They are fictional stories based on a real book/ film/ game etc. written by normal people who like the original.

The sister she always wanted

...is fanfiction based on the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. The story is about Elizabeth Benet and Mr. Darcy and how they fall in love but the plot twist here is that Elizabeth meets Georgiana Darcy (before she meets Mr. Darcy) and they become friends. So, the plot of this story is a bit different from the start, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are friends as well and the pride and prejudice problems aren't really an issue here.

I like this fanfiction because it's different but at the same time the same. It's in the same time as the original, there are same characters with same personalities. It's interesting to see how one thing could affect the rest of the story.
