Self-assessment
4th semester
My progress in English
I think I'm better at writing or at least more confident. I always make mistakes in spelling even in Czech and I'm quite self-conscious about it. But when I was writing something in English this semester, I noticed there were much fewer spelling mistakes than before.
Completing my goals
- Read at least one book in English - I read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
- Watch video/ film/ show in English every day - I'm sure I watched something in English every day this semester
- Read something in English every day - I read something in English every day ass well (either for school or just for fun)
- Write something in English twice a week - I also wrote a piece of text twice a week for school
3rd semester
My progress in English
I noticed that I am more confident when speaking. Obviously, I don't know every word or expression but I try to speak more often and I think it helped me to gain more confidence.
Completing my goals
- I want to read one book per month - I didn't have time for that
- I want to speak English more than in the second semester (which was once or twice a week) - Since this semester we had every class online, I spoke English at least 3 times a week
- Every day I want to watch at least one video/film/serial in English - I am positive that I accomplished this point
- I want to read something in English every day - I accomplished this one as well
- I want to be organized and systematic with my school - I tried as best as I could but I don't think it can be called being organized
- I want to start tutoring someone in English - I started tutoring two brothers - one is in elementary school (we do mostly grammar and vocabulary) and the other one is in high school (we are talking most of the time and sometimes revise grammar and vocabulary)
- And of course, pass all my subjects for this semester - We don't have exams yet, so I'm still hoping for the best.
2nd semester
My progress in English
I have studied English for 13 years and made the biggest progress at grammar school.
Since I started my study at Masaryk university I got better at pronunciation. I am not very confident in speaking but I am slowly getting better.
Completing my goals
I have already passed two subjects this semester. And every week I have written something in English.
I hope I got better in linking - I have practised linking and pronunciation by repeating sentences and phrases after videos from Tim's pronunciation workshop on YouTube.
I have not finished reading the third Harry Potter book yet but I started reading The Mortal Instruments.
